Gross Beat is a time and volume manipulation plugin by Image-Line used widely in Drake-style production for stutters, half-time effects and rhythmic gating. A Gross Beat preset is a saved configuration that instantly applies those effects to any channel in FL Studio. You need the Gross Beat plugin (included in FL Studio Producer Edition or higher) to use these presets.

Download and unzip the kit. In FL Studio, open the Browser panel (F8), navigate to the unzipped folder, and drag individual WAV files into the Step Sequencer or the Channel Rack. For the FLP starter template, go to File > Open and select the .flp file directly.

Load the 808 WAV into FL Studio’s native sampler (FPC or Sampler channel). Use the pitch knob in the channel settings to tune the 808 to the root note of your chord progression. For chromatic 808 runs, map the sample across keyboard keys in the plugin editor and play melodically in the piano roll.
